As our city falls quiet, with the majority of residents isolating at home, the announcement of the proposed NSW Government stimulus packages has arrived loudly. With the two-week lockdown expecting to cost the economy $2 billion in lost activity (AMP Capital, 2021) it’s safe to assume that any support will be much needed. 

Dine and Discover vouchers have been extended to August 31 and will now include take away services. However, they cannot be redeemed using third-party delivery platforms. The federal government will also be announcing packages shortly.”

In this time of uncertainty and disruption, it’s important to know what financial support will be available and accessible to you to support you, The NSW Government several support packages yesterday and they are as follows:

For Businesses:

The NSW Government has announced two grants being the Small Business COVID-19 Support Grant and the Hospitality and Tourism COVID-19 Support Grant which aims to aid cashflow shortages while restrictions on trading exist. 

By the 19th of July, it is expected that eligible businesses and sole-traders may access grants to the value of:

  • $10,000 if a 70% decline in turnover is experienced while the restrictions remain in place.
  • $7,500 if a 50% decline in turnover is experienced while the restrictions remain in place.
  • $5,000 if a 30% decline in turnover is experienced while the restrictions remain in place.

It has been proposed that all business may defer payroll tax payments due in July 2021 and applicable businesses may defer their June quarter gaming machine taxes.

For Individuals:

Dine and Discover vouchers have been extended to August 31 and will now include take away services. However, they cannot be redeemed using third-party delivery platforms.

Financial support will be available in the form of the COVID-19 disaster payment and the Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment, which is offered by the Federal Government.
